Class of 69: hi
Anne Anderson here. In August, I "retired" from my computer science research position at Sun Microsystems to see if I have what it takes to teach 7th-8th grade math. I've been a full-time math teacher since then, participating in a teacher training program in parallel that will give me state certification at the end of the year. It's incredibly hard work! Getting Sun and IBM to agree on how to do some computer process was a piece of cake compared to getting a 7th grader to understand the concept of a variable! In Arts and Humanities classes, the 7th-8th graders are studying the Civil Rights movement now. It has been interesting to reflect on my own experience with them, living through both the Central High barricading in Little Rock (where I lived up until 8th grade) as well as Dr. King's assassination in Memphis.
My husband Dave has been retired for several years, and is helping me in my new career by taking care of all the household chores. Our daughter Kate is a junior in college, majoring in, of all things, Software Engineering. She seems to be good at it, and really loves doing it.
I've lost touch with Mary Park, Latin and English teacher. Anyone know how to contact her?

Hi Anne, I think you have made a wonderful career chioce in teaching our young people. I agree with you on just how difficult it is teaching young people the math skills they will need throughout life. Keep up the good work, and if I hear anything about your Latin and English teacher, I will pass it on to you.
